Her hand covers Senketsu’s right eye, she’s closing her left… the symmetry…. Then, also from the final Kill la Kill volume, the adorable side art by Mago ( magodesu)! Ryuko and Senketsu happy in Senketsu-Kisaragi, and Senketsu waving goodbye? My heart. Two characters and a representation of their synchronized way of fighting together. The recently released Promare Blu-ray/DVD cover gave me flashbacks: This is what Kill la Kill ultimately wants you to take away from it. Hugįirst, the final Blu-ray/DVD cover, by Sushio ( sushio_)! So sweet. With Kill la Kill’s fast pace, we rarely get those quiet moments where these two are just happy together.Īnd there’s more good stuff where that came from! Here are some more of my favorite pieces of official/semi-official Kill la Kill artwork that feature Senketsu! 1. It’s nothing elaborate, but its sweetness means the world to me. The image is very simple it’s an illustration of Ryuko holding her bag behind her, smiling down at Senketsu. Gridman Starter Book was sold on Trigger’s online shop….)īut if you do consider the starter book to be official merchandise, then Sachiko Yajima’s piece is not only my favorite in the collection but one of my favorite pieces of official Kill la Kill art, period. (I mean, it was sold at Comiket originally, so maybe it’s more in the “animator fanart” category, but at the same time, it is also a product kind of featured on the official Kill la Kill site, and, like, the SSSS. Now, I dunno how “official” the Starter Book really is. Kill la Kill animator doujin and Twitter accounts won’t include much content featuring him.Īnd that’s totally fine, of course! These are drawings the staff do for fun, and I completely understand if drawing Senketsu ain’t as fun as drawing human characters.īut I actually got the Kill la Kill Starter Book recently, which was originally sold at Comiket 84 and then included as a purchase bonus on Aniplex+:Īnd flipping through the book, I was reminded that while Senketsu may not get a lot of animator fanart, he does get some good official art. See, Senketsu… doesn’t exactly get a ton of stuff like this.
SUSHIO PROMARE MOVIE
When was the last movie that was just crazy, bombastic, non-stop action like this one (outside of franchise movies)? I think it was REDLINE, and that was 9 years ago… So yeah, that was a fun time.įlippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.Sushio’s latest Kill la Kill fanart got me thinking. Not that there haven't been plenty of wonderful ones in the last few years − In This Corner of the World, Your Name, A Silent Voice, Liz and the Blue Bird, Mirai no Mirai, Penguin Highway, Children of the Sea… but they kinda all have a similar vibe? Slice-of-life dramedies with occasionally a bit of fantasy mixed in.

It's a bit of a Cliché Storm at times and a couple of female characters like Lucia or Aina feel underutilized, but beyond that, I don't know… it's kind of a breath of fresh air among anime movies. Also, it's a detail but it's refreshing that when Galo has to do flaming mouth-to-mouth to Lio to ressuscitate him, he just slightly hesitates for a second but then is all "Ah fuck it, here goes nothing" instead of being all creeped out. And I appreciate that they didn't pull out the copout card of "the villain doesn't actually believe in what he says and is just an egomaniac." I mean, he is an egomaniac but he genuinely thought that the Earth was doomed and that his plan was the only way to save humanity. On the positive side, the action was wonderfully directed and the two mains were compelling enough, as well a few side characters (Professor Heris notably).

"Sure, we burn cities, but that's because we can't help it, and at least we don't kill anyone." Yeah, tell that to the people who lost their homes… It almost sounded like a soldier saying "Sure, we bomb cities to oblivion, but at least we warn the population in advance." My last complaint would be that some of Lio's explanations for the Burnish's actions felt a bit bullshity. I'm also not sure if that was by design of if the sound mixer messed up, but during action sequences the dialogue was almost completely drowned by the music and sound effects, to the point I'm not sure even a Japanese audience could get half of it. At first it almost looked like a 3D movie without the glasses with all those yellow-cyan-magenta shades and strange lighting effects. I'll admit it took me a while to get used to the color palette.
SUSHIO PROMARE FULL
This is a Trigger anime through and through, full with a planet-sized robot at the end, because why wouldn't there be one. Well… If you've read the names "Trigger", "Imaishi" and "Sawano", that tells you everything need to know about this movie.
